My work as a Creative Practitioner

Through my work as a Creative Practitioner I have collaborated with, Ysgol Y Deir and Hijinx, Mental Health Matters and POBL to construct and facilitate various group art sessions that improve participants' well-being.

The overall aims of these art sessions were developed in accordance with each organisation's aims and participants' needs.

Most group sessions I facilitate are centered around visual art practices which encourage social engagement between participants, escapism from everyday life, artistic self-expression, and evoke a sense of achievement; contributing to improving well-being. However, during my art and facilitation practice, I have branched out towards other craft activities such as, suncatcher making, glitter jar making, finger puppet making, and embroidery.

Each session is broken up into three parts; an introduction, the main art activity, and an end-of-session discussion. The introduction allows participants to settle into the session and be informed and shown the different ways they can engage with the main art activity. The main art activity provides an opportunity for participants to engage with the materials provided to create an artistic outcome. The end-of-session discussion gives participants a chance to celebrate their creative process and share the artwork they made in the session.

The art medium of the main activity is formed by each participant's interests which are established from the first session and adapted through their developing interests.

Below you will find a series of portfolios that document my facilitation and collaboration with previous organisations, alongside pictures of the session and artistic outcomes produced by the participants.

To interact with the portfolio, use the arrows on the side of the image to look through each facilitation project. Click in the centre of the image to read my collaboration and facilitation documentation.
