INTRODCTION
Hi! My name is Dakota Pearce; welcome to my website :)

I am a neurodivergent artist that specialises in visual arts such as painting and drawing. Although I specialise in visual arts, I am always eager to expand my artistic skills and have experimented with sculpting using wire and polymer clay, embroidery, crochet, and other crafts such as suncatcher making, glitter jars, and finger puppet making.
To me, art isn’t just something that looks appealing; it is supposed to make you feel something. Whether these feelings are present in the creative process the artist experiences or the viewer’s interpretation, the beauty in art is its ability to portray individuals’ interests, experiences, and perspectives that allow an opportunity for understanding and connection. This mindset contributes to my own art practice as most of my pieces either contain symbolic imagery which represents my experiences and interests or spread awareness towards topics such as mental health or just fun illustrations intended to bring the viewer joy.
In my facilitation practices, I follow a pluralistic framework developed from various recourses to encourage a therapeutic person-centered approach that allows me to adapt and collaborate with organisations and participants to ensure the session fits everyone’s needs. As a part of my person-centered practice, I believe in creating a non-judgemental environment that is safe and engaging, creating a sense of community between people regardless of their background. Alongside my person-centered approach, I incorporate my artistic knowledge to provide and develop skills participants can explore during and outside the session. I find that providing an opportunity to experiment and explore art mediums prohibits an opportunity for self-expression and positive reflection, so let’s work together and paint a beautiful world.
